We would like to answer some questions you may have regarding diagnostic ultrasound.
What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound is defined as sound frequencies beyond the upper limit of human hearing.
Diagnostic ultrasonography is an imaging technique used to visualize soft tissue structures of the body. Ultrasound is directed into the body and returning echoes are received by the transducer and converted electronically by a computer into digital images which are recorded.
Doppler is a form of ultrasound used to evaluate blood flow to body organs. During diagnostic ultrasound examinations, spectral Doppler, color Doppler, and power Doppler is used.
Your Diagnostic Ultrasound Examination
At the time you make your diagnostic examination appointment, directions for preparation will be given to you for your specific ultrasound examination. Before the diagnostic ultrasound study begins, the patient is covered with a drape sheath. The examination room is darkened. When the diagnostic ultrasound examination starts, warm gel will be applied to the examination area and the transducer will be placed on the skin surface. The ultrasound examination will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
There is no pain associated with the ultrasound examination. Diagnostic ultrasound is safe, wildly used, and economical. There are no known harmful effects concerning the use of diagnostic medical ultrasound.
Your examination will be performed by a physician or a qualified sonographer and after the digital images are reviewed an official report will be made.
Most Insurances are accepted and affordable fees are available.
